Robert (Bob) Alvin Ste
![Stewart]()
wart, Sr., of Poplar Bluff, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at his residence with his family surrounding him. Bob is a child of God and made the decision to follow Jesus Christ as his personal savior.
He was born on December 26, 1939 to Claude and Mabel (Franks) Stewart in Caruthersville, MO. Bob graduated from Poplar Bluff High School in 1958 and attended Three Rivers College. He married his high school sweetheart, Margaret Sullivan, on August 9, 1958.
He was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff. Bob enjoyed collecting Coca-Cola items, cars, and antiques. His fondest memories were times he spent with his father. During the summer they would ride on the Coca-Cola delivery truck delivering sodas and learning about the rural areas (fishing holes) of Southeast Missouri. Bob was a story teller and many nights the family would sit at the supper table listening to stories of his childhood. He believed hard work never killed anybody and a bar of soap is cheap!
Most of all he loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was extremely protective of his family and would go to great lengths to protect and serve them. He taught his family to love, respect, and serve God and Jesus Christ. He loved to read and study the Bible and spoke often of Jesus’s return.
Bob is survived by his loving spouse of 58 years, Margaret; three children, Robert (Pam) Stewart, Jr. of Doniphan, MO, Tracy P. (Charlotte) Stewart of Washington, DC, and Dana (Mike) Dickson of Doniphan, MO; eleven grandchildren, Robert "Robbie" Stewart, III, Caleb (Michelle) Stewart, Colette (Rusty) Plumb, Mikera (Jay) Hemphill, Zac Dickson, and Kasie (Rob) Byrd all of Doniphan, MO; Chelci Stewart and Jessica Rushin both of Springfield, MO, Belinda (Dwight) Eversole of Huntsville, AL, Jared-David Dickson of Nashville, TN, and Sarah Rushin of Rolla, MO; seventeen great-grandchildren, Russ III, Minnie, Keitlynn and Keith Plumb, Elizabeth Hemphill, Bryce Hurt, Kelbie Byrd, Kenadie Lane, Kyndyll, Alexis and Carmen Dickson, Landon and Loghan Stewart, Dawson and Korbin Eversole, and Hayden and Braxton Rushin; his hunting buddy, Harry Whitworth of Republic, MO; and a group of young men whom he impacted their lives and he considered them to be his sons, Tony Goodrum, John E. Sloan, Monti Jameson, and Bill Turner.
He was the last living child of his family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his five siblings, Claude H. (Fredda) Stewart, Jr., Janiece (Carl) Moore, Aloma Colette Stewart, and Patsy Green who were all believers of God and Jesus Christ.
